Now hiring an Ag & Food Organizer!
Growing, nationally recognized grassroots group hiring a field organizer to work with people building sustainable family-operated agriculture and food efforts.
Dakota Resource Council (DRC), North Dakota’s only home-grown, statewide, multi-issue, grassroots organization, is hiring a full-time field organizer for agricultural issues.
This position is based in Bismarck, but will work statewide organizing for policies that strengthen family-owned and operated farms and ranches in healthy rural communities. This position will also include organizing on member-identified issues in one or more chapters which are in McKenzie County, Stark County, Fort Berthold, Fargo, Grand Forks, and Bismarck.
Field organizers work with farmers, ranchers, and everyday North Dakota residents to protect the land, air, water, and people. Responsibilities include working with people to address the issues, maximize the power and participation of members, empower people to speak for themselves, and fundraise to support their efforts. Organizers use sound and successful organizing efforts to work with DRC members on issues that impact people’s lives and livelihoods.
The DRC office is a block from the historic and scenic Missouri River in a growing region with lots of recreation activities. Salary is based on experience, with generous benefits. DRC has been in the national spotlight recently, including the Rachel Maddow Show, NPR and The New York Times for work fighting for sustainable energy development. DRC was founded in 1978 and is an original member of the Western Organization of Resource Councils (http://worc.org).
