COVID Stimulus Update For AG and Ranching

There will be no regulatory changes in the COVID Stimulus bill.  Agriculturally speaking,  23.5 billion dollars will be allocated to farm relief. 14 billion dollars of that money allocated to the Commodity Credit Corporation (a New Deal Era program that has been handling the last 2 rounds of Market Facilitation Payments (MFP) during the trade war)  to bring its funding up to 30 billion dollars cash on hand for ag relief.  This will most likely be used for a 3rd round of MFP’s but the USDA will make the final say in how the money will be allocated.

9.5 billion of that money will go towards ranching, dairy, specialty crops and local food systems.  We’d like to thank Senator John Hoeven (R-ND) pushing for 20 billion originally.
