DRC Issues Statement on NDIC Decision to Extend Public Comment on Bakken Crude Transportation

Bismarck, ND — Dakota Resource Council issued the following statement after the North Dakota Industrial Commission’s delay in requiring North Dakota oil companies to make Bakken crude safer to ship:

Today’s NDIC decision to delay and take more comments might lead to a step forward in making Bakken crude safer to transport. However, the effectiveness of any new rule depends on implementation by oil operators and enforcement by state officials.

Making Bakken crude safe is more important than saving the oil industry money. This is not only important to North Dakotans, but to the nation and other countries. People around the country and the world are watching to see if North Dakota officials will ensure that our oil is safe to transport.
