No audio update this week. The communications department had a busy week answering calls from media wanting interviews and asking questions. DRC is now in the public eye for everything involving oil development and it seems like our phone line is running hot! So here is your update below!
This Saturday, January 25, the Protect Theodore Roosevelt National Park Coalition, along with DRC, will be hosting a hunting summit with a diverse group of organizations, private citizens, hunters, and wildlife experts will be meeting tomorrow to discuss the impacts to wildlife habitat and the future of the hunting in western North Dakota. The summit is titled, “North Dakota’s Oil Boom: Protecting our Hunting Heritage” and is scheduled to run noon to 4pm at the Fargo Radisson.
The summit will feature keynote speaker John Cooper, a wildlife expert from South Dakota. Cooper has an intimate knowledge of North Dakota’s wildlife habitat due to his 22-year career with the US Fish and Wildlife Service serving as Senior Resident Law Enforcement Agent for North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska. In addition Cooper is himself an avid outdoorsmen and has written for outdoor magazines such as Bassmaster, Sports Afield, Western Outdoor News, and Dakota Outdoors magazine. He was a guest on the Mike McFeely Show on KFGO and that interview can be heard by CLICKING HERE.
North Dakota Energy Industry Waste Coalition leader and DRC member, Darrell Dorgan was on 660 KEYZ Country in Williston on Thursday as well, talking about radioactive and toxic waste in North Dakota and how the North Dakota Health Department is not regulating it. He also discussed the importance of saving special places in North Dakota from oil drilling. KEYZ doesn’t have live streaming at the moment, so I couldn’t record it. I will try to get that sound bite next week. Darrell will also be on the Dale Wetzel Show, this Saturday, on 550 KFYR AM. The show runs from 10 am to 12 noon and you can listen on your computer by CLICKING HERE. Darrell will be talking about special places.
Below are stories that involve DRC and some are stories of interest that maybe you didn’t see. Next week, there should be a couple of articles from Energy Wire and Wall Street Journal that mention DRC.
