MANNING — A divided Dunn County Planning and Zoning Board made recommendations to deny a proposal to amend a part of its land development code that would allow an alternative way for landowners to protest a landfill proposed near their property Tuesday at its monthly meeting.
The provision, which was turned down in a 4-to-3 vote, was presented by Mark Kovash, a spokesperson for the Dunn County Citizens for Local Control, which is advocating for landowners to have more of a voice concerning how landfill permits are approved or denied in the county. Beside him was the group’s attorney Beth Baumstark, the group’s legal representation.
