North Dakota natural resource and environmental groups say the state’s flaring policy should be enforced, not extended.
Members of Dakota Resource Council, Dacotah Chapter of Sierra Club and the Environmental Law and Policy Center sent letters Monday to the North Dakota Industrial Commission urging members to decide against a request from the North Dakota Petroleum Council to delay the state’s Gas Flaring Policy benchmarks for another two years.
“The industry request for a two-year extension is way out of line,” said Wayde Schafer, conservation organizer for the Dacotah Chapter of Sierra Club.
