Our Regions
What Are DRC Regions?
The Dakota Resource Council consists of five regions across the state, creating a balanced and inclusive system.
Organizing by region allows DRC to better connect with members, coordinate campaigns, and ensure that leadership reflects the geographic diversity of North Dakota. It brings clarity, fairness, and building durable grassroots power as DRC continues to take on issues that affect communities across the state.
The regional structure strengthens DRC’s ability to organize statewide while keeping leadership rooted in local experience. Each region is represented on the DRC Board of Directors by a Regional Board Member who resides in that defined area and is elected by members of the region. This helps ensure that decisions reflect the realities of rural communities, tribal nations, small towns, and farming and ranching areas across North Dakota.
Region 1
Region 1 covers eastern North Dakota, including the Red River Valley and communities around Fargo and Grand Forks.
COUNTIES: Barnes, Cass, Grand Forks, Griggs, Nelson, Ransom, Richland, Sargent, Steele, and Trail.
Region 2
Region 2 includes much south central North Dakota, including Bismarck, Jamestown, and surrounding rural counties.
COUNTIES: Burleigh, Dickey, Emmons, Foster, Grant, Kidder, LaMoure, Logan, McIntosh, McLean*, Mercer*, Morton, Oliver, Sheridan, Sioux, Stutsman, and Wells.
* Parts of the counties that are not included in the Fort Berthold Reservation.
Region 3
Region 3 spans north central and northeastern North Dakota, including the Minot and Devils lake areas.
COUNTIES: Benson, Bottineau, Burke, Cavalier, Eddy, McHenry, Pembina, Pierce, Ramsey, Renville, Rolette, Towner, Walsh, and Ward*.
* Part of the county that is not included in the Fort Berthold Reservation.
Region 4
Region 4 covers western and southwestern North Dakota, including Dickinson, Williston outside the Fort Berthold Reservation, and the Badlands region.
COUNTIES: Adams, Billings, Bowman, Divide, Dunn*, Golden Valley, Hettinger, McKenzie*, Mountrail*, Slope, Stark, and Williams.

Region 5
Region 5 is dedicated entirely to the Fort Berthold Reservation, recognizing its unique geography, sovereignty, and organizing history.
