In 2016, the Environmental Protection Agency created the New Source Performance Standard to limit the amount of methane that’s leaked in to the air by faulty oil and gas infrastructure. The EPA has opened up public comment to by decrease the frequency of leak detection by 50% will multiply the harmful health impacts of increased pollution when this development occurs in states with ineffective rules, like North Dakota.
